During the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century, composers turned their attention to the expression of intense feelings in their music. This self-described "Romantic" movement depicted personification of nature, intense passionate love, the sublime, the morbid the beautiful and the strange. Join us at the Red Poppy Art House to listen to art songs and arias by the composers of this era. Tickets are $20 at the door.
This concert featuring only female composers will take place at the historic Women's Building in the Mission in SF. We will be performing vocal works by Clara Schumann, Lili Boulanger, Cecile Chaminade and Margaret Bonds. In addition to the vocal music we will also have a piece written for cello by local female composer, Beth Custer and a piano, violin and cello trio by Clara Schumann.

January has produced a lot of great composers, and we, your local Bay Area Opera singers, will sing some of their best works.
